“Unlock the Benefits of Azure Stack HCI: Learn About the Physical Switch Requirements Change”

Physical Switch Requirement Changes for Azure Stack HCI
Introduction
Azure Stack HCI is a new cloud-native platform that provides a single, unified infrastructure for running virtualized applications and services. It is designed to provide a consistent experience across hybrid cloud environments, with the ability to easily connect to on-premises and Azure cloud services. It allows organizations to rapidly deploy, manage, and scale applications and services in private, public, and hybrid cloud environments.

In order to make Azure Stack HCI easier to deploy and manage, Microsoft has made changes to the physical switch requirements. This blog will provide an overview of the changes and how they will impact how Azure Stack HCI is deployed and managed.

Physical Switch Requirements
The physical switch requirements for Azure Stack HCI are now the same as for Azure Stack Hub. This means that the same physical switches can be used for both Azure Stack Hub and Azure Stack HCI deployments. The switch requirements are:

• A layer 2 or layer 3 switch with at least two 10Gbps ports for connecting the nodes to the switch.

• Support for virtual port channels (vPC) on the switch.

• Support for jumbo frames (9,216 bytes).

• Support for link aggregation protocol (LACP).

• Support for VLANs.

• Support for Quality of Service (QoS).

• Support for IP address management (IPAM).

• Support for Network Access Control Lists (NACLs).

These requirements ensure that the network is properly configured and optimized for Azure Stack HCI deployments.

Benefits of the Changes
The changes to the physical switch requirements for Azure Stack HCI provide several benefits. First, it simplifies the deployment and management of Azure Stack HCI. By using the same physical switches for both Azure Stack Hub and Azure Stack HCI deployments, customers can manage their networks and deployments more efficiently.

Second, it allows customers to take advantage of the same networking features and capabilities available in Azure Stack Hub. Customers can use the same network features, such as virtual port channels, jumbo frames, VLANs, and Quality of Service, to configure and optimize their networks for Azure Stack HCI.

Finally, the changes make it easier for customers to connect their Azure Stack HCI deployments to the Azure cloud. By using the same physical switches for both Azure Stack Hub and Azure Stack HCI, customers can quickly and easily connect their deployments to the Azure cloud.

Conclusion
The changes to the physical switch requirements for Azure Stack HCI make it easier for customers to deploy and manage their hybrid cloud deployments. The same physical switches can now be used for both Azure Stack Hub and Azure Stack HCI deployments, allowing customers to manage their networks and deployments more efficiently. Additionally, customers can take advantage of the same networking features and capabilities available in Azure Stack Hub, and quickly and easily connect their deployments to the Azure cloud.
